Shop Porch Holler!

Maine is a wonderful place to live, to love, to enjoy mountains and lakes, rivers and seas. It's a playground for hiking, swimming, boating, snowshoeing, skiing, biking. The summers are short and very sweet, the winters are cold and crisp.

I planted deep roots here- built a house, raised kids, and worked wood in the shop I created some 200 feet from my home. For 32 years I've been making things of wood here. I take my walking commute most mornings on the early side, with a cup of coffee in hand and an eagerness to pick up where I left off the day before.

Making guitars is a marriage of two loves, a full expression of my skill and knowledge as a woodworker, and a way to tangibly express my love for music, the music I grew up with, and the still reverberating memories of the culture I grew up in.

Guitars for sale! I shout from the porch of my shop... Come and get 'em!!! Ah this pandemic has kept me homebound and statebound... my usual way of presenting my guitars to the world, the hands-on, ears hearing of actual instruments, has been at guitar shows in the Northeast. The too fast spreading Corona virus had shut many things down, guitar shows included. The last one I presented at was in 2019.

In many ways, 2021 is our year of Hope. A re-awakening, a re-set, a return to some of the things we hold near and dear. With my first shot in the arm of the Moderna vaccine and the second coming soon, I'm starting to feel I can rejoin the larger world and get back on my game again. So now it is time to holler again and the words to shout from the porch are these-

Come to the Northeast Guitar Expo!!!!

I'm happy to announce that I will be debuting new guitars at the Northeast Guitar Expo at the Verve Hotel in Natick MA on May 23rd. The three new instruments represent a series on the theme of the Counterculture, and how books, magazines, and albums impacted us, cracked us open, changed the course of our lives. The marquetry art on these three is some of the best I have ever produced.

I am also creating a hand-bound companion book for these guitars. This limited edition is a compilation of short essays from invited writers on their personal experience with the counterculture.

Neat things are brewing in Maine that I would like to share with you...
