On the Road
We reaffirm our affection for smoky bars and nights that hold on to the heat and after-hours jam sessions southern rock-style…
We rolled into Silver Spring, MD yesterday in the mid-afternoon after deciding not to swim in the milkshake muddy the Chesapeake Bay. (Swim plan B was an outdoor pool at the Y, and laps till we lost count in the rain.) Dorothy’s brother Martin and his wife Taylor and dog Lemon shared their beautiful Silver Spring home with us. A special treat of the evening was a Takoma Park impromptu busking venture, where we mixed covers with Washington Social Club originals. I really enjoyed playing with Martin, it was my first time meeting him and he’s a real-deal musician. And the truth is I could have stayed out all of that sweet night but for the need of sleep for the longest part of our drive today.
